Description
The garden walls to the south and east of No. 30 (Ladybridge House) in King's Lynn are dated 1818 and are constructed of brick with coping tiles. The walls feature a curving section along Nelson Street and are primarily built in a variation of English garden wall bond. At the east end, the wall returns to the north but has been rebuilt in 1987-88 after collapsing during a gale in October 1987. This rebuilt section extends west to the house at its north end and includes a piece of 16th-century brick walling. This older section has a blocked pointed arched stone doorway and a square-headed window with a timber lintel. The house is also abutted by stone quoins, which are remnants of a previously demolished building that once occupied the site. The main garden wall is an important visual feature in the street scene.
