Description

The Bridge at East Gate is a road bridge over the River Gaywood in King's Lynn. The first bridge at this location was likely built in the early 14th century, while the current structure dates from the early 16th century. The upper parapet and load-bearing frame were added in the 20th century and are made of reinforced concrete. Below this, the 16th-century bridge features two stone arches supported by brick revetments. The western arch consists of five stilted ribs, with the outer ribs being triple-chamfered and the inner rib single-chamfered. The eastern arch has two triple-chamfered ribs.
