Description
Dial Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1730, constructed of brick with a corrugated tile roof. The building is two storeys high and features five bays, with a brick plinth and giant pilasters flanking the facade. The central entrance has a panelled door beneath a flat hood supported by scrolled brackets. The window frames, which date from the 18th century, are set under gauged skewback arches and have surrounds made of lighter coloured red brick. The sashes are late 20th century replacements. A string course on the first floor rises over the door hood, and there is a heavily moulded brick eaves cornice with dentils. The parapet is panelled and includes a wall sundial that also carries the date 1730. The roof is gabled with internal end stacks.
Inside, there is an open well cut string staircase featuring floral scrolls on the tread ends, with three turned balusters on vase and bobbin mouldings for each tread. The handrail is ramped and wreathed to the bottom newel. The stairwell has a panelled dado, and all rooms retain their moulded cornices.
