Description

Gatehouse Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 60 meters west of the Church of St. Mary. The farmhouse is constructed from carstone, brick, and some flint, with a pantile roof and gable parapets. It features three cells and a chimney bay, and is 1½ storeys tall, with raised walls and gables.

The principal facade faces south and includes a large off-centre axial stack on the left and gable end stacks, with the western stack being external. The carstone rubble is finished with raised walls in English bond. To the right of the second cell, there is a doorway with a boarded door. The facade also has three 2-light casements on both the ground and first floors.

The east and west returns have raised gables, with carstone extending to the former eaves level, and a mosaic of carstone, flint, and brick above. There is a single-storey addition on the west gable. The rear, facing north, features the first and second bays constructed of galletted carstone, with the upper part in old English bond brick. The third bay consists of brick, chalk, flint, and carstone mosaic, with the upper part in later brick. There is a doorway at the front of the stack, and the ground floor has varied and inserted fenestration, while the first floor has three double casements with glazing bars.

Inside, the stack is enclosed, and the central cell features jewel stopped chamfered beams.
