Description
17 and 19 Tolhouse Street are two houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and topped with a pantiled roof. The buildings are three storeys high and feature a two-window range. The central entrance to No. 17 has a six-panelled door set within a reeded doorcase that includes a reeded frieze and upper roundels, along with a boarded geometric fretlight above.
On either side of the door, there are 8/8 sash windows under gauged skewback arches and within flush frames, with the right window having horns. The first floor has two similar unhorned sash windows. The attic is lit by a 2/2 horned sash window on the left and a 4/8 sash window on the right, neither of which has skewback arches. The roof is gabled, and the south gable head was rebuilt in the 20th century. There is a late 20th-century door to No. 19 located in the gable. The rear of the building features a Mansard roof, mixed sashes, and 20th-century casements, along with two stacks on the upper roof slope. The interior has not been inspected.
