Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a private house, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a pantiled roof, which is black glazed at the rear. The rear facade is two storeys high and has a central door set in a roll moulded case with an overlight above it. There is a flat hood supported by console brackets. On either side of the door, there is one original sash window with intact glazing bars, along with a tripartite sash window to the left and a 19th-century sash window to the right, all of which are positioned under segmental arches. The first floor has four sash windows with glazing bars. The building has a timber eaves cornice and a hipped roof with a long slope at the rear and a shorter slope at the front. There are two flat dormers with casements and two symmetrical chimney stacks, with gable heads resting on moulded brick kneelers.
The south front of the building is two and a half storeys tall and consists of five bays. It features a central 20th-century glazed door in a timber case, with two 19th-century sash windows to the right, both having glazing bars. A 19th-century canted bay with an embattled parapet obscures the two left bays. The first and second floors have original sash windows with glazing bars, while those on the top floor have been reduced for a half storey. The eaves cornice on this front is adorned with modillion detailing.
