Description

MATERIALS: limestone.

DESCRIPTION: North Tuddenham War Memorial is located within the churchyard of St Mary’s Church, and comprises a gabled medieval Calvary cross on a fluted column with a collar. The column rises from a tapering square plinth set upon a single-stepped base.

The front face of the plinth is incised with: IN/ LOVING MEMORY/ OF/ (NAMES)/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR. Another face is inscribed: ERECTED BY THEIR/ SORROWING RELATIVES/ AND/ GRATEFUL FRIENDS. The other faces also are inscribed with names.

The base is inscribed on one side: 1914 – 1919/ R.I.P. and another side carries the date: 1939 – 1945.
