Description
Pulham St Mary War Memorial is situated at the southern edge of the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, which is a Grade I-listed building. The memorial is positioned on an elevated site, making its front face visible from the main road below. It features a Celtic cross made of Portland stone, which rises from a slightly tapered plinth that stands on a three-stepped base. The head of the cross is decorated with a central boss.
On the front (south side) of the plinth, there is a small Maltese cross incised into the stone, along with a dedicatory inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN LOVING MEMORY/ OF THOSE IN THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 1918."
The names of those who died in the First World War are inscribed on the east and west sides of the plinth, as well as on the east face of the top step. On the north side of the plinth, there is an inscription that states: "ALSO OF/ THOSE WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES IN/ THE 1939-1945 WAR" followed by six names.
