Description
Brisley War Memorial is situated in the churchyard of St Bartholomew’s Church on Church Street in Brisley, Norfolk. It is prominently placed along the churchyard path that leads to the church entrance. The memorial features a Latin stone cross on a tapering shaft, which is set on a tall plinth with a deep, moulded cornice and recessed inscription panels. Below the plinth is a two-stepped stone base.
The front face of the plinth has an inscription in incised lettering that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF BRISLEY MEN FALLEN IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918 AND 1939 – 1945 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE" followed by the names of the fallen. The names are also listed on two other faces of the plinth.
