Description
Hurdle Cottage is a former public house dating from the 17th century and later. The building features a rendered timber frame with a thatched roof and has a rectangular plan with later additions on either side. It is one storey high with an attic and displays three apparent corner posts in the original block. The cottage has three 18th century or early 19th century three-light windows with metal casements and an off-centre boarded front door. There are three recessed dormers with two-light casements and an off-centre axial stack. The side additions are full height in brick to the east and partly timber framed to the west, each with its own stack. Inside, there are spinal bridging joists with ogee and nicked chamfer stops, and the original roof is constructed of light scantling.
