Description

Nos 1, 2, and 3 Nunnery Cottages form a range of three houses. Number 3 dates to the late 16th century and was remodelled in 1857; Nos 1 and 2 were built entirely in 1857. The construction is of rendered flint, clunch, and brick, with a slate roof. The arrangement is two storeys high. Number 3 was originally part of the inner gateway to a monastic precinct. Access to Number 3 is through a 20th-century door beneath a gabled porch. The ground floor has a single top-hung window on each side, with the opening light featuring glazing bars. Hoods in the form of lozenge labels are above the windows. Three similar first-floor casements are also present. Number 2 has a 20th-century door and a gabled hood over two bays of similar windows on each floor to the left. Number 1 has a 20th-century door with a hood on a lozenge label, and one similar window on the ground floor and two to the first floor. A foliated crest bearing the date 1857 is centrally positioned at first-floor level. The roof is gabled, with three chimney stacks. The interior was not inspected.
