Description
Spring House is a pump room built in 1818 for the local spa, and subsequently converted into a private house. It is constructed of gault brick with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and arranged in three bays. The central entrance has been altered in the late 20th century with the addition of glazed doors set within a doorcase featuring reeded pilaster strips and an overlight. A large, coffered hood is supported by simple wrought-iron brackets. French windows are present to the right and left of the entrance, each set beneath gauged skewback arches. The first floor has three sash windows with 6/6 glazing bars, again with gauged skewback arches. A mutule eaves cornice runs along the building, beneath a hipped roof. A rear block, also two storeys in three bays and forming a second major facade, features a central pediment. This block also incorporates a ground floor French window and sash windows. Brick stacks are situated in the valley between the two ranges. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
