Description

Springfield is a house dating to circa 1820, with alterations made circa 1860. The rectangular block is set back from the road and is constructed of painted stucco with banded quoins. It has a slate roof. The front facade features five sash windows dating to circa 1860, in original openings; those on the left and right are triple-hung with segmental heads. A square Doric porch of the same date is present, featuring corner pilasters and a modillioned cornice. The door has two arched glazed panels and a reeded surround. The rear elevation exhibits three centrally placed windows that slightly project, along with the outer and centre ground floor bays in shallow projections. Internally, the house includes a Greek Ionic screen to the left of the staircase hall, and a rear saloon with foliage decoration to the ceiling and fireplaces dating to circa 1860.
