Description
The Old Rectory is a house dating back to around 1790, built upon an earlier 17th-century core. It was extended in the mid-19th century and late 19th century to create a U-shaped plan and is now divided into three separate residences. The building is constructed of painted brick, with old tile and slate roofs.
The original eastern section of the house comprises three windows and has a parapet. It features triple-hung sash windows and a central front door with a two-pane upper section, set within a Doric pilaster surround and a pediment cornice. A mid-19th century section to the west has a moulded pediment gable and includes two round-headed ground floor windows and two sash windows on the first floor. A later, narrower bay is located to the west.
Composite former service blocks form a small rear courtyard that features a 19th-century cast iron pump on the west wall.
