Description

Ayot House is a large house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with a northeastern extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of dark red brick with rubbed red brick window dressings, floor bands, and a moulded cornice. The house has parapets with sunken panels and a cellar. It is three stories high. The windows are segmental-headed sash windows. The southwest elevation has five windows, with a slightly projecting centre and a 19th-century canted window bay on the right-hand side. The southeast elevation features three plus three windows, a later 19th-century Doric sandstone porch on the left, and a circa 1930 seven-window, single-story extension on the right. Rear extensions are present on the north angle.
