Description
St Ethelreda's Churchyard Gates, gate piers, and flanking walls are located on the north side of the churchyard in Hatfield. They were likely built around 1872 using castings that were leftover from gates made for Hatfield House before 1846. Each gate features four vertical panels adorned with scrolled and interlaced foliage designs. There is a scrolled overthrow with fluted stems and a central honeysuckle motif. The late 19th-century flanking piers are made of rubbed brick with panelled sides. On either side, there are segmental wall pieces with trellised brickwork in their upper halves. A wooden gate is situated on the left side.
