Description

This property comprises a house, now used as shops and offices, dating back to the 17th century. It was significantly altered in the 18th century and further modified in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front is of colourwashed brick with a timber frame. It has a tiled roof and consists of three bays, with extensions to the rear. The building is two storeys high with an attic. The central entrance has a moulded architrave. Late 19th-century shop windows with a projecting cornice are positioned on either side of the entrance. Three glazing bar sash windows are located on the first floor. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the building, above which are two flat-roofed dormers. A stack is present on the front pitch at the left end, and another is located at the rear of the taller wing on the right. Exposed timber frame panels are visible, with brick infill, featuring triple struts connecting the collar to the purlin. Sashes have been inserted into the frame. A shorter, timber-framed wing, rendered on the exterior, extends to the rear left and has a steeper roof pitch. The interior retains the original roof construction.
