Description

Canal Bridge Number 164, located about 400 meters east of The Grove, is an accommodation bridge over the Grand Union Canal, built around 1800. It is constructed of elaborately stuccoed brick in a Neo-classical style and measures 5 meters in width with a humped profile. The bridge features a segmental arch with radiating voussoirs and a keystone, flanked on each side by small segmental-headed arches set between panelled piers. The parapet is adorned with piers that have oval plaques and a dummy balustrade above a dentil cornice. The bridge is splayed out at the banks to form end piers.
