Description
Stocker's House is a house built between 1861 and 1862 for the City of London Corporation, intended as a residence for its Collector of the Coal Dues on the Grand Junction Canal. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a shallow hipped slate roof. It has a tall two-storey front with three bays, and there are steps leading up to a central entrance that includes a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight, all set within a rebated reveal. The house has large glazing bar sashes in reveals, with slightly cambered heads above all openings. The eaves are deep and boxed, and there are extruded end stacks with offsets and oversailing caps, flanked by sashes on both storeys. To the right side and at the rear, there is a basement with French windows and a conservatory, along with glazing bar sashes on the upper storeys. There are also one-storey outbuildings to the right and to the rear left. The interior has not been inspected.
