Description
No. 20 High Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with extensions from the early 18th century and early 20th century. It features a timber frame with red brick nogging and a tiled roof. The house consists of two separately built bays, along with a rear wing and a 20th-century addition. It is two storeys high. The timber-framed bays have one and three light 20th-century casements, with horizontal sliding sashes on the left side. The structure displays exposed posts, rails, studs, and a curved brace. There is a cement rendered stack on the gable end of the earlier bay, and a lower gable on the later left bay with a truncated end stack. The right end stack is located where the roof joins No. 18, which is not listed. On the left return, there is a 20th-century entrance with horizontal timber strips in the brickwork. The roof features queen struts to the clasped purlin design. The early rear wing is located to the right and has a weatherboarded gable end with a truncated original stack. The 20th-century wing is situated to the rear left and has a gable front. The interior has not been inspected.
