Description

The Bull Inn is a public house with a timber frame dating back to the 16th century, with additions from the 17th and 18th centuries, and 20th-century rear extensions. The building features exposed box framing with plaster infill and has steeply pitched plain tile roofs. It stands two storeys high with a long, curving facade that bends away from the road to the north, which includes sections that were formerly separate cottages from the 17th and 18th centuries. The main block has a red brick plinth and a tall 17th-century chimney stack located at the center and north end, the latter of which is connected to a tumbled brick gable end. The structure consists of six bays of framing and has glazing bar casements. There is an early 19th-century door near the south end, framed with an architrave and topped with a bracketed hood. At the south end, there is a large rear cross wing featuring a tall 17th-century red brick lateral chimney stack on the north wall. Additionally, at the rear center of the main block, there is a small two-storey gabled extension with a clasped purlin roof, likely from the late 17th century. The northern extensions have glazing bar casements and tall red brick bases, with some exposed 18th-century framing visible at the northeast end.
