Description
Nos 8 and 10 High Street is a house and shop dating from the 17th century, featuring an exposed timber frame. It likely has an earlier core in No 10. The exterior is roughcast, plaster, and painted brick, topped with a gabled cross wing on the right and a plain tile roof. The building is 1-2 storeys high and has a 5-window range divided into 4 parts. On the left, there is a single storey with gabled eaves attic and a canted bay on the ground floor. In the centre, the two-storey section has a 18th-century three-light leaded casement window on the first floor. The cross wing to the right displays a clasped purlin roof and 20th-century casements. At the far right, there is a 17th-century single storey timber frame outshut, which now features a 20th-century shop window. A large stack is located at the rear centre of the building.
