Description

No. 4, High Street, Wheathampstead, is a house and shop dating to the 17th century. Originally listed as The Old Post Office, the ground floor is clad in plaster and painted brick, while the upper floor is roughcast. The roof is slate-covered. There are three late 19th-century casement windows to the upper floor, set within eaves dormer gables. A 19th-century flat-hooded door is on the left-hand side, and a 19th-century shop window is on the right. The interior features a lower-ceilinged bay on the left, potentially a former cross-wing. A partially weatherboarded rear projection, likely contemporary with the main structure, is also present.
