Description

The buildings at 152 to 158 Fishpool Street are a group of 17th-century timber-framed structures with high-pitched tiled roofs. Number 152 is a narrow, two-story building with one window, situated between its neighbors. It features a plastered first floor with a two-light casement window in a near-flush, moulded frame, and a brick ground floor with a sash window containing glazing bars in a near-flush box frame. The front door consists of two flat panels and two fielded panels, set within a box frame. Number 154 has two stories and two windows. Number 156 has two stories, a single window on the first floor, and two windows on the ground floor. Number 158 is a two-story building with one window. All the buildings show traces of jettied fronts that have since been built out on the ground floor. The first floors are rough cast, while the ground floors are smoothly rendered with a plinth. The first-floor windows are two-light casement windows, some containing glazing bars, set in flush, moulded frames. The ground-floor windows (except for Number 158, which has a sash window) are two-light casements in flush, box frames. There are two steps leading to the doors, which are sheltered by cornice hoods. Numbers 152 to 158, together with numbers 142 to 174 (even), form a group.
