Description

This is a pair of houses located on the west side of High Street in Redbourn. They were likely built in the late 17th or early 18th century. The front of the houses is roughcast and features a plastered floor band. The north gable end is plastered and has a small attic window. The houses are two storeys high with attics, and have a deep, moulded wooden eaves cornice. The original window openings are visible on the facade, although they have been fitted with later windows. The doors, which are in the centre of the pair, have reeded frames with thin scroll brackets and cornice hoods with mutules, dating to about 1830. The doors themselves are 20th century replacements. There are four first-floor windows, which are narrow at the ends and wider in the centre; the windows to the left and right of the doors are particularly wide. These windows are fitted with 20th-century glazing bar casements.
