Description
This is an early 19th-century front applied to a late 17th-century timber-frame house, located on the west side of High Street in Redbourn. The building is constructed of vitrified brown brick with red brick vertical bands. The north gable end reveals exposed timber framing with red brick infill. The front elevation features three first-floor flush sash windows, each with a gauged brick lintel, and two doors with rounded stucco surrounds. A late 19th-century shop occupies the right-hand side. A single-storey rear extension is also of vitrified brown brick. Inside No. 28, there is a large inglenook fireplace with a contemporary oak newel stair attached at the rear, and a good chamfer-stopped floor beam.
