Description

This is an early or mid-16th century timber-frame house with a late 17th century gabled rear extension and a mid-19th century painted brick facade. The south-facing elevation, which fronts onto Fish Street, is plastered. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building is two storeys high and has one first-floor flush sash window with a moulded frame. A 20th-century shop front occupies the ground floor.

The shop’s interior retains substantial 16th-century timber beams and joists, including long dragon beams that are shaped like an 'S' when viewed from above. The rear wing features a large red brick chimney stack, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, on its northern side. The house was formerly part of an inn.
