Description

The war memorial plaque, unveiled in 1920, is a rectangular stone tablet mounted on two small stone brackets and topped with a cross. It is set into the front wall of the dwellings at 34 and 36 Albert Street and features the names of twelve individuals who lost their lives in the First World War. The inscription on the plaque reads: ‘FOR REMEMBERANCE/ 1914-1918/ GEORGE CHAMBERLAINE/ARCHIBOLD W CORLEY/PERCIVAL CORLEY-ROBERT HOLDER/RICHARD DUNHAM-ERNEST DUNHAM/ROBERT GIBSON-EDWARD FOSTER/REUBENLAURENCE-HARRY SPENCE/DANIEL GOODCHILD-SILAS PAYNE/RIP'.
