Description

This is a house and shop, likely originating in the 17th century or earlier, with alterations and additions dating to around 1830. The front facade is brick, while the rear includes a timber-frame cross wing. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in plain tiles, featuring a restored chimney stack positioned off-centre. The building is two storeys high. The upper floor has four regularly spaced sash windows with flush moulded frames. The ground floor is colour-washed. The shop front features two entrances and four windows, all with reeded architraves; the second window from the south side retains its original four-arched upper lights. At the rear, a deep, gabled cross wing extends from the north side, built of red brick with stone surrounds to the first-floor and attic windows. A weatherboarded gabled stair turret located in the angle is likely of 17th-century origin.
