Description

Torrington House is a mid-19th century red brick house located on Holywell Hill. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows, with stone dressings and a concealed roof behind a balustraded parapet that sits above a deep, bracketed stone cornice. The sash windows are topped with gauged, shallow segmental arches, except for the left-hand windows on the first and ground floors, which are three-light canted bays adorned with stone pilasters and an entablature on each floor, also topped with a balustraded parapet. The entrance is marked by a Doric porch that includes a frieze of triglyphs and bucrania, with a balustraded parapet above.
