Description
Phoenix Cottage is a late 18th-century building located on Holywell Hill. It is constructed of red brick featuring a pattern of blue headers and has a moderately high-pitched tiled roof. The left section of the cottage is two storeys tall and has two windows; the left windows are casements with glazing bars set in near-flush box frames, while the right windows are sashes with glazing bars in similar frames. The wood doorcase is topped with a plain pediment and flanked by flat pilasters, leading to a door with four fielded panels and panelled reveals. There are wrought iron handrails and a scraper at the entrance. The right section of the cottage is also two storeys but has only one window; this section features a sash window with replaced glazing bars in a near-flush box frame on the first floor, while the ground floor has been altered to include a modern bay window.
