Description
Amwell Cottage is a house that was originally built as a cottage range in the late 17th century or early 18th century. The front is made of 18th-century red brick. There is a left extension from around 1930 that incorporates a small 18th-century barn, and a further extension added to the rear left around 1970, creating an L-shaped plan. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has one to two storeys. The long frontage facing the road features four box dormer windows, with the two in the center having 19th-century cast iron casements. On the ground floor, there are 20th-century leaded and glazing-bar casements. The left side of the cottage is clad in weatherboarding, and there are two 18th-century ridge chimney stacks. The roof structure includes clasped purlins.
