Description
The Plough is a house that has been converted into a public house, dating from the 18th century, with a southern extension added in the late 19th century. It is constructed of dark red brick in Flemish bond, accented with lighter red dressings, and features a steep old red tile roof with a wooden eaves board. The building is two stories tall, originally designed with attics, and was originally a two-cell house with end chimneys. It faces west and has two windows on each floor, along with a central door that is set beneath a blank panel decorated with a double lozenge pattern of black headers. The ground floor has a chamfered plinth and plat band, with deep gauged flat arches above the windows. The windows are slightly recessed 2-light casements. An added gabled brick tiled porch is present, and there is a one-window, one-cell southern extension that replicates features of the older part of the building. Inside, there is a staircase next to a large internal chimney in the original west room, and the building features chamfered axial beams with ogee stops.
