Description
Wants End Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier, featuring a south crosswing and a hall range that was altered in the 17th or early 18th century. The building has a timber frame with the upper part of the wing roughcast, while the ground floor is cased in old red brick laid in English bond. The hall range is cased in 18th-century plum brick with red dressings and is heightened by six courses of chequer brickwork at the eaves. The roofs are steep and covered with old red tiles. The farmhouse has a T-shaped roof block facing east, with the south side of the crosswing facing the road. A large square chimney with a cruciform diagonal group of shafts is located at the junction of the wings, with a lobby entrance beside it. The two-storey wing features two casement windows with two lights on each floor. The lower hall range has two casement windows with two lights and two gabled dormers at the eaves, which also have similar windows. There is a 19th-century internal chimney stack on the north gable.
