Description

This is a 17th-century barn located on the roadside at Upper Watts End in Kings Walden. The barn features an exposed timber frame with red brick infill on the western bay, while the southern half is covered with vertical dark boarding over horizontal weatherboarding. It has a flint sill with red brick dressings and a steep red tiled roof. The barn consists of three bays and faces east, with double doors situated in the middle bay. Notable architectural details include jowled posts, long straight tension braces connecting to the corner posts, and a clasped purlin roof, with one purlin on each slope supported by a collar.
