Description
Bennetts is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a rear extension added by Sir Albert Richardson in the 1930s. The building features a timber frame with plastered walls divided into pargetted panels and has a steeply pitched pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the right half being blank and likely having been a barn in the past. There is a 17th or 18th century red brick stack towards the right and a brick plinth. On the left side, there are two 19th century flush sash windows, and an early insurance marker is located in the centre. The ground floor has a modern door flanked by casement windows, all under a bracketed hood. The rear extension is made of painted brick, featuring coved plaster eaves and a plain tile roof with leaded casements. The front gable end has a Chinese-style door hood. Inside the main part of the house, there is an inglenook and beams with stop-chamfers.
