Description
The Mill is a building that combines a mill and a mill house, now functioning as a single residence. It dates from the 17th century and was altered and extended around 1973. The original mill house is located at the southern end and features a timber frame with late 19th-century roughcast casing and windows, topped with a plain tile roof. The northern extension, built over the mill race, is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and attics. The southern elevation displays a gable end with glazing bar casements, and the lintels are adorned with bracketed hoods. The walls feature a cement pattern that mimics studwork. There is also a one-storey and attic extension facing the road, which has a tile-hung gable and a small 19th-century chimney stack. Attached to the structure is a small weatherboarded shed from the 19th to 20th century. Notably, the mill wheel at the northern end was brought from Fordham Brewery.
