Description

Chain Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage, originally built as a pair of dwellings. Wings were added to the front corners in the mid-19th century. The cottage is timber-framed with plastered walls and a thatched roof. The south elevation features two eaves dormer windows in the thatch, with four leaded casement windows on the ground floor, paired externally and with small bracketed hoods. A 20th-century door and pentice are on the north elevation. A central ridge stack dates to the 18th century. The added wings are single-storey, with painted clunch walls, pantile roofs, and small red brick stacks.
