Description

The Cob Wall on the west side of Gardiners Lane in Ashwell is a Grade II listed structure, likely built in the 18th century and restored in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of white cob and features a thatched coping. The wall has a white brick plinth, predominantly from the 19th century, and measures approximately 80 metres in length, with a canted plan that returns for 6 metres at the south end. The wall stands about 3 metres high.
