Description
Codicote Lodge is a house built in the late 18th century, with internal decoration mainly from around 1912 and a large south extension added around 1870. The east front is made of white painted brick and features slate hipped roofs. It has a window arrangement of 2:3:2, with the center window being recessed and pedimented. A brick cornice with modillions runs along the top, and there are recessed sash windows with louvred shutters. The central porch, added in the early 20th century, includes a fielded panel door, a leaded fanlight, fluted Ionic columns, a swelling frieze, and a segmental pediment. The west garden front is stuccoed, with canted outer bays containing three windows each and a five-window center topped with a pediment over the middle three windows. Below this, there is a square protection with a balustraded balcony, a plinth, a first-floor sill band, and a moulded cornice. The interior features a good design in a style from around 1730, with an entrance hall that has fluted Ionic screen columns and a large fireplace, which may be an original feature from the 18th century, located in the northwest ground floor room. The extensions are constructed of grey gault brick and have slate roofs.
