Description
Poplars Farm House is a house that dates from the 16th century or early 17th century, with a refronting in the 19th century and alterations and extensions made in the 20th century. It has a timber frame and is faced with gault brick, all of which is rendered. The house features a steeply pitched tiled roof and was originally likely a small L shape in plan, consisting of two cells at the front, but is now roughly square in shape. It is two storeys high, with the entrance located to the right of the centre. The ground floor has three light recessed casements with segmental heads, a plinth, and a plat band.
On the right end, there is a red brick external stack from the 18th century. The left end has a hipped roof and a 17th-century external stack that is large at the base with offsets leading to a narrow cap. A lean-to has been added to the front, and the right end has an addition to the rear that projects slightly further. At the rear, there are two gabled blocks with lower ridges; the block on the right is the lowest, while the left block is slightly larger and features one and two light flush frame casements. An extension to the right was under construction at the time of inspection.
