Description

The Old Anchor is a house, formerly a public house, dating from the early to mid 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is timber-framed, with part of the frame exposed, and is largely rendered and roughcast. The roof is steeply pitched and half-hipped, covered with thatch. The building originally comprised three cell lobby entry plan. The entrance is located to the right of centre, within a small 20th-century projecting bow. There are 20th-century flush frame casements with three lights. A section of exposed small panel framing, of fairly large scantling, is visible on the first floor towards the centre. Two lunette dormers are present. A central ridge stack exists, alongside a stack added to the left end. A lean-to has been added to the rear right, under a catslide roof, with an entrance in the right end.
