Description

Wrest Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is timber-framed, with weatherboard and rendered cladding, and has a half-hipped thatched roof. The house was originally three rooms arranged in a lobby-entry plan. It is one storey high with an attic. The ground floor has an entrance between the left and central bays; to the right are two flush-frame glazing bar horizontal sliding sash windows. To the left of the entrance is a 20th-century two-light casement window. In the attic to the right are a small horizontal sliding sash window and a two-light glazing bar casement. An axial stack is constructed of red brick. The right end of the house features a ground floor two-light casement window with exposed plates and an added external stack. The left end is rendered and has casement windows. 20th-century additions have been made to the rear of the building.
