Description
This is one of six tombs located in the churchyard of St Mary and St Thomas, specifically dedicated to Edgar and Beryl Lafone. Designed in 1938 by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the tombs are made of Portland stone. They feature a pair of slightly tapering, semi-circular-headed memorial stones that are set on a shallow stone surround, which is square in shape with a segmental end opposite the headstones. Between the stones, there is a raised circular flower bed. The left stone, from 1938, is carved with an eagle head, while the right stone, from 1954, features a cherub's head.
