Description
This is a barn and outbuildings dating from the 18th century, located about 10 meters west of Hyde Hall Farm House. The barn features a timber frame on a brick base and is weatherboarded, with a half hipped tiled roof. It consists of four bays, with the third bay from the house being open. There is a lean-to addition at the front with a slate roof and inserted casements. Inside, there are braces from jowled posts to tie beams, angled struts clasping purlins, and braces in the walling.
Attached to the left and projecting forward is a lower L-shaped range, which has three bays on each arm, and is also weatherboarded and brick-built, with a half hipped tiled roof and lean-to outshut additions. Beyond this range, on the far left, is an even lower 17th-century red brick range with a high plinth and corrugated iron roofing, which was originally taller. At the far left front angle, there is a truncated brick pier that features a late 16th or 17th-century carved stone finial, likely a wolf's head that was removed from the gate post of the garden entrance to the earlier Hyde Hall.
