Description

Ramridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century. Originally, it had an open hall with cross wings at each end. The building was later cased in red brick in the late 18th century and features a machine-tile half-hipped roof. There is an 18th-century external stack at the southeast end. The farmhouse has two storeys and three casement windows; the ground floor windows have segmental heads, while the upper floor windows are set in dentilled brick eaves. The open hall was floored over in the late 16th century, and a chimney stack with a roll moulded lintel was added, backing onto a cross passage. Inside, there is scratch moulded oak partitioning opposite the hearth, a plank door with a pegged frame, and a cut bracketed hood. Attached to the northwest side is a small late 17th-century timber-framed barn, which has late 18th-century red brick infill and a clasped purlin roof covered with plain tiles. This barn is now used as a garage.
