Description
Kimpton Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 15th century or earlier, with a cross wing added in the 16th century. There are extensions from the late 16th century and the mid-17th century, and the building was cased in red brick in the early 19th century. It features large rear extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse has a long range with a plain tile roof and is two storeys high with five windows. The open hall was originally located at the eastern end and was rebuilt in the mid-17th century, reusing some smoke-blackened rafters. The cross wing to the west has a hipped roof, and the upper floor was formerly jettied. To the west, there is a slightly jettied range with heavy framing. An early 19th-century door at the center has flush panels and large scroll brackets that support a flat hood. The windows throughout the building are 19th-century glazing bar casements. Inside, the eastern side features some exposed chamfered ceiling beams with moulded stops.
