Description
The barns located northwest of Great Plummers Farmhouse are a pair of structures built in a single range. The older barn on the northeast dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, while the southwest barn is from the 17th century. Both barns feature weatherboarding and have plain and machine tile roofs. The northeast barn has original red brick walls on the sides and rear, which include blocked slit ventilators. It also has a gabled porch facing the farmhouse and consists of three timber-framed bays supported by two heavy roof purlins. The southwest barn is similarly structured with three bays and a gabled porch, featuring clasped purlins with collar braces supported on queen posts. Additionally, a narrow 18th-century bay has been added to the southeast end of the southwest barn.
