Description

This barn, dating to the 17th century, is located at Dane Farm in Wheathampstead. It is a timber-frame structure with weatherboarding and a plain tile roof. The barn has seven bays, with a gable end facing the road. The east elevation features a gabled cart entrance positioned towards the right, and to the left is a 17th or 18th century lean-to range with eaves ventilators. Inside, the barn has heavy, mid-height rails and curved braces, supporting a roof with clasped purlins.
