Description
This is a range of barns located 50 meters southeast of Bluegates Farmhouse, dating from the 16th century. The structure consists of a larger barn on the northeast and a smaller barn on the southwest, both of which are aisled and constructed with a timber frame. The barns are weatherboarded and feature steep corrugated asbestos roofs that are half hipped on the northeast side. The larger barn has four bays, with rafters and purlins that have been replaced. The wall posts are fitted with horizontal ties to the principal beams. The smaller southwest barn has a more robust construction. The entire range is set on a plinth from the 18th to 19th century, with the southeast section made of clunch.
